Red arrows Ventura mobile entertainment rig. 

My clinet was commissioned to design and produce the high resolution graphics for this rig, a project which we are very familiar with, having had many years experience in this field working for the likes of General Electric and Metropolis AV amongst others. The Red Arrows ventura tours Great Britain visiting airshows and other events throughout the season, giving rides to customers and a taste for what being in the cockpit of an RAF Hawk is like.

Design
The design process starts with a brief to establish what the client needs. I went the home to the Red Arrows and enjoyed a a tour around the site to see and discuss what we might include, and any preferences about style and content. In order to be as cost effective as possible, I went along to the meeting with cameras and tripod to shoot aircraft on the ground and pilots and ground crew, as there was now enough of a brief to be confident of what would be needed.

There were images of all the elevations of the vehicle available which the graphics would be applied to, and acquire, via the RAF, air to air shots at high resolution as well. This includes to top, back of the trailer and front of the cab as well.

Production.
Once the design has been approved by the client I prepared the high resolution graphics. There is a lot of photoshop work to ensure the transparent cockpits look right, and colour matching processes to be tested for the vinyl graphics. (On some rigs, there are curved surfaces to apply the vinyls to which requires an even greater level of skill).

Images are prepared and logos applied. In this instance, the vehicle is painted a specified RAL colour for the blue, and clouds airbrushed on, before applying the carefully measured vinyl graphics of the images and logos.
